During our recent Design and Technology topic, the children in Year 2 created vegetable kebabs. We had great fun tasting and classifying many different vegetables before we designed our product. Some children discovered that they enjoyed some vegetables that they had never tried before and some children even changed their mind about a few vegetables which they had previously thought that they didn’t like! One of the most popular vegetables to add to the vegetable kebabs was gherkins!
Alongside the kebabs, the children also had the chance to make a recipe for baked falafels. The children were conscientious about their safety and ensured that tables and hands were clean, as well as wearing aprons. In choosing this recipe, we were able to talk about foods suitable for a vegan diet and what it means to eat food that is plant based.
